A sad thing in life is that sometimes you meet someone who means a lot to you only to find out in the end that it was never bound to be and you just have to let go.

Ten years ago my best friends mother lost her life in the line of duty during a drug bust and my best friend had to move almost two hours away to live with other family members. I remember being in the sixth grade, 9/11 had just happened and hearing that Meghan and her brother Justin had left school early. No one would give me full information and as soon as I walked in the door at home my mother called to tell me what had happened and said that she had Meghan with her, they were leaving the hospital and coming to get me! At the time I had idea that I was going to not only be loosing a mother, but my best friend was going to be leaving me as well. That evening I had to help Meghan pack up her room and then drove to the beach to be with family. That night we did nothing, but lay in the bed with tears covering the sheets we tried to talk and remember the good times. The funeral was a few days after, Meghan and myself had to say our goodbyes. Now that I am in school I am three hours away from her and we do not see each other so often, however we are making more time for each other now that we are older and have cars! If you are still reading this (thank you) I want for you to know that I’m not trying to make you feel sorry for Meghan or myself, that would be selfish! What I really want is for you to look at your life and be thankful for your family, friends and the things that you do have. The morning before Meghan’s mother lost her life Meghan, her brother and myself (I stayed the night over) were late to school, because she didn’t have any clean underwear and her brother didn’t have any clean socks. Both of them we blaming their mother for the things that they did not have and very quickly learned that it is not always about what you do not have in life. We are never promised tomorrow! Meghan lost her father six months ago and is now left with only her grandparents and other family members in her life. Imagine being twenty-one with no parents to see you graduate from college, get married, have kids or be successful in your career! Appreciate the days that you have and the people around you…. please! Thank you for reading

How thoughtful, you too have been missed!! I was trying to see if there was a date on this message, but not date. All is well on my end as I have been traveling around and learning true greatness of life. Thank goodness we are back in touch! :)
